It’s the beginning of the new school year, which means the start of the new season of
Depauw’s news program, the Source.
Summarizing recent happenings on campus and upcoming events, the Source helps students and faculty stay informed with current news. In this week’s episode, co-anchors Tyler Murphy and C Thambundit
dive into the topics that affect the entire student body. They discuss the subject of the new meal
plan, replacing large amounts of money with swipes and flex dollars. Murphy and Thambundit also
review the search and procedure for choosing the next president to follow Brian Casey, along with
upcoming events such as the Riley Dance Marathon November 21st and this past week’s family
Covering the entertainment news is freshman Kylee Rippy. Here she discusses two
events taking place on Saturday, the tour of the campus farm and Panhellenic open houses for=
prospective first-year students.
Following this is sports anchor, Josh Griesi, who details the recent games and upcoming
matches to take place in the coming weeks. Men’s soccer defeated Franklin College 3-0, helping them maintain their currently undefeated streak. In football news, men’s varsity demolished. Earlham with a victory of 53-0 while men’s junior varsity also obtained a win against Wabash 31-12 in overtime.
Lastly, reporter Nicole Taveras addressed the reason for the many green dots that seem
to have appeared everywhere on campus. She interviewed two people behind the Green Dot
movement, Wendy Webbich and student Katie Gozdecki. They discussed the reason behind the
initiative, describing it as a bystander intervention program aimed to reduce power-based
personal violence on campus. Packed full of helpful information and current events, the Source’s new season has started off on the right foot, setting the stage for it’s upcoming season this year.
